Santa Maria College was founded by the Sisters of the Good Samaritan of the Order of St Benedict in 1904. Established with a commitment to the education of girls, the Sisters worked tirelessly to build a learning environment that offered rigour and opportunity for growth imbued within a rich Faith community. 111 years on, this legacy continues to flourish and opportunities abound for students at Santa Maria College.

Our Catholic identity underpins the very essence of our vision and practice enabling girls to become strong, compassionate and independent women who are critical thinkers and who seek to live out Gospel values with integrity and hope. Our educational endeavours seek to nurture a search for truth, a spirit of inquiry and a love of learning that will affirm and encourage students to grow to their full potential. The College endeavours to provide a holistic education to the young women it serves. In doing so, it is wholeheartedly embracing the challenges of the rapidly changing educational, social and spiritual landscape.

Completed in 2014, a Performing and Visual Arts Complex has been built at the front of the College to inspire learners from Year 7 to 12 to imagine, create and innovative within a 21st century contemporary learning space.
